A conversation with Clive Watkins Director Of Institutional Advancement at The American School in Japan

In this conversation with Clive, we explore the imperatives and dynamics of fundraising at non-profit international schools, the role of Advancement, the strategies that schools have explored, and the challenges and opportunities that schools must consider in order to remain competitive in today’s global educational marketplace.

About Clive Watkins

Prior to joining The American School in Japan last year as the Director of Institutional Advancement, Clive held the same position at the International School of Prague for ten years. He has an MBA from Babson College, a background in business start-ups and Venture Capital in various countries, and is a citizen of three nations. Despite being a hands-on practitioner of international schools’ Advancement, Clive often speaks with the Boards of non-profit schools in Europe and Asia, where his realistic, no-nonsense approach to the viability of fundraising is often an eye-opener.
