What to Expect from the 2016 East Africa Summit feat Google for Education

The International School of Tanganyika in cooperation with AppsEvents is proud to be hosting the 2016 East Africa Google for Education Summit on February 6 – 7, 2016 (Saturday and Sunday) with the Google EDU certification preparation bootcamp being offered as a whole day pre-summit course on Friday.


The summit is a fantastic learning event to support classroom teachers, school leaders and school IT staff on leveraging Google Apps for Education tools to enhance and support 21st century learning.

All AppsEvents summits have some specific learning pathways that goes beyond Google Apps for attendees who want to take deeper dives into specific subjects or job roles. Remember though that all sessions are ‘open access’ so attendees can choose individual sessions depending on their areas of interest and many choose last minute depending on the conversations they have on the day.


Beginner


Do you feel that you need more time to explore specific tools? Start your day on the right foot with our focused beginner/intermediate sessions. We have sessions on the core Google Apps Sheets, Slides, Forms, Sites, and Drawings as well as an introductory course on managing your class on Google Classroom.


Advanced


Ready to level up? Learn how you can bring the outside worldwide to your classroom and take your students to a virtual field trip with Google or check out how to run a paperless classroom using Google Drive!


Leadership


For school managers and anyone in a leadership position, we are delighted to be offering AppsEvents Google for School Leaders strand with introduction on ‘Future Ready Schools’ to be spearheaded by AppsEvents Team Director, Dan Taylor.  Learn more


Google Apps Administration


Certified-Admin-Level1.pngWe are also bringing AppsEvents Certified Admin (ACA) Level 1 as a regular summit session. This entry level certification is focused on getting educators with basic or no admin experience to ‘level up’ and be able to administer a live Google Apps Domain.

Chromebook Management and the Google Apps Classroom


We are also delighted to offer the Chromebook Management Course designed to help you get started on using the device in an educational set-up.


The course will run as a seven part series spread throughout the 2-day summit and will be headed by Google Certified Trainer, Copil Bogdan. In this customized learning pathway, we will cover the key functionalities of the Chrome OS so you can maximize the full potential of the Google Apps for Education suite of tools in your Chromebook device and then take a closer look at specific tools/apps/extensions and the best practices on using them to enhance student learning and teacher productivity.
