AppsEvents in cooperation with St. Julian’s School brings you the first annual Portugal Google in Education Summit happening this November 29 to 30, 2014 at St. Julian’s School in Carcavelos, Portugal.
It’s going to be a fun filled two days of learning with sessions led by some of the world’s top Google Certified Teachers, Trainers, and Admins. The summit is focused on helping school managers, teachers, IT admins and staff get the most out of Google Apps for Education suite.
Summit attendees will come from across Portugal and nearby states to learn about best practices for using Google tools in the classroom, and how to deploy and manage them. Some topics and tools which will be covered include getting started in Google Apps administration for first time admins, time-saving tips on organizing your classroom with Google Apps, scripting, Google Earth and Google Maps, using YouTube in the classroom and many more.
Participants will also have the opportunity to play with gadgets like Google Glass and enjoy great networking opportunities including an evening party to catch up with colleagues from other Google schools as well as the speakers. The Portugal Summit will feature two of Europe’s leading Google Apps for Education experts — Dan Leighton and Sarah Woods.
Dan Leighton is the Director of Technology at The Grammar School at Leeds in the UK, a Google Certified Teacher and a Computing at Schools UK Master Teacher. He is passionately committed to the cause of education and the promotion of effective teaching and learning in schools. A regular speaker at conferences around the UK, Europe and Africa, he is known for his determined focus on evidence-based practice in educational technology.
Sarah Woods is a core member of the Google in Education Community leading Google sessions across Europe and Asia. She is an MYP Digital Design Teacher at the International School of Amsterdam and holds an MS Ed in K-12 Technology Integration.She is also a Google Qualified Trainer and has worked extensively with Google Apps for Education in her schools where they use Google for resource management, calendaring, collaboration, curation and much more! Sarah has a unique presentation style as her sessions reflect her passion for student-directed learning. Expect to get your laptop out and try new things when you join one of her sessions.
