We are delighted to have launched our online course portal with our first course on Google Classroom with leading trainer Allison Mollica
There has been a huge interest in Google Classroom and from what we have seen so far it is going to be a revolutionary tool in further democratising EdTech and moving control to the individual teacher. The idea of creating a ‘native LMS’ within Google Apps has been a fascination for many in the AppsEvents team for several years, and we were involved in developing CourseDirector, a forerunner of Google Classroom with many of the same features.
Of course YouTube is an amazing resource for free videos and we encourage everyone to start (and sometimes end) their learning journey there, but what we are aiming for are structured courses made up of focussed video lessons, accompanying documentation and then an online test after each chapter to test knowledge.
The ‘end of chapter’ tests are based on the Mastery Learning pedagogy so can be retaken until passed (with new randomized questions each time from the question bank). The course ends with a certificate of completion. Of course all courses include access to updates and are also offered with a ‘school wide licence’, so multiple teachers from your school can take the course.
We also offer access to our test Google Apps domain where teachers can create classes with dummy data and practice adding and removing students.
