Transitioning to being an education technology consultant and living in Singapore with Craig Kemp

Listen on: iTunes / Podbean / Stitcher / Spotify / YouTube

Craig is a sought after EdTech consultant and speaker who often works with AppsEvents. Craig went from teaching in New Zealand to an International School in Singapore and we discuss what it’s like to live there as an expat.

Craig achieved what many educators think about and became a full-time consultant. We talk about how he did this and in particular how he built up his consulting practice as a ‘side hustle’ before going full time. We talk about how Craig built up his network using Twitter, the value of speaking at events for free and much much more. If you have ever thought about doing some consulting this is the episode for you.

This podcast is also brought to you by Acer for Education. People ask us what Chromebooks we recommend for schools and after trying them all we always recommend Acer.

We’ve been to Acer HQ in Taiwan to be part of product discussions and they are genuinely the best thought out, and most importantly durable devices out there for schools to use.

They are always innovating, including the first tablet running Chrome and the first convertible touch screen Chromebook. The latest version is the Spin 11 with Stylus and 2 cameras and we highly recommend it!

They also, of course, have a full range of windows laptops and for eSports fans, their Predator gaming range is second to none.
